I totally forgot I had scheduled this fix, too!
Well, it has been a minute or two since I’ve posted here. I’ve been not enthusiastic about anything I have been wearing lately. Nothing worthy of posting…. and I’ve said this before… I really don’t want to share anything that I am really not feeling. But maybe I should just post any way because maybe some one will get something from it. I know I am inspired by others…. Ehh….who knows, we’ll see…
Yesterday, I finally wore my Lularoe leggings.
- Comfort. Man…are these leggings comfortable. I honestly don’t think I have owned anything this comfortable in.my.life!
- Pattern. I was very skeptical about this pattern, but I like the way it looks. I won in from a consultant contest and I got to pick the leggings. Totally out of my comfort zone, but I love them. And…hey…Chuck Taylor’s make everything better!!
- Not an DAMN thing! Oh wait….that I don’t own MORE! #workingonit 😂
Lace skirt (Ross) // “Merci” T-shirt (Old Navy)
- Lace. I like the lace overlay on this skirt. You can dress this up or down. #winning
- Tee. Who doesn’t love a t-shirt that says SOMETHING???
There you have it, ladies! I’m working on getting some more outfits, as I feel like I’m in a rut!
Thanks for sticking with me and reading! Happy Sunday! ❤️
I was absolutely uninspired by anything I wore last week. That’s why I had no “share” for you all last Sunday. I’m mean, if I’m not loving it or feeling it…who wants to see it?? 😂.
I went with something basic at work and I have to say, I was feeling IT!
Tee dress (Old Navy) // ana Kimono (JcPenney) // Necklace (NY & Co)
The necklace received RAVE reviews (THANKS, MOM!!😘)….
Again I own something that probably matches everything I own in my closet! I got this from my Mom for my birthday in June. She seriously has great taste and most of the items I receive complements on have come from her!!!
I felt a little more inspired to share this week. Let’s see what the next week(s) have to bring!
Thanks for reading and Happy Sunday!! ❤️
Hey everyone! Happy Friday! Today is a short post, as I only have one outfit to show you! And that’s not because I didn’t bother to get out of my PJs all week – I simply forgot to snap any pictures of some of my cute outfits this week. Oh well!
Here is what I am wearing today for to go into the office. I bought this LuLaRoe Cassie skirt (size XS) from my favorite consultant last month, and I have been dying to wear it. Of course, I love the bright yellow on this skirt, but this particular print is a tad out of my comfort zone because I don’t usually go for kitschy animal (or in this case, what look like insects) prints. But, I had took a chance! However, before putting this skirt into the rotation, I needed to first to find a top to wear with it, because I didn’t want to go the safe route – black or white would have been too obvious!
I was hoping to find a green top to match the print in this skirt. Enter the LuLaRoe Gracie which has a very subtle green and black stripe. This is actually a kid’s top, in size 14, which I find fit much better than the women’s version. I think I could even size down to size 12 if I wanted an even more fitted top, but I haven’t tried that (yet)! I actually found another Gracie top in a similar color (with stripes) to wear with this skirt. But I had already worn it over the weekend when we took our army of kids to Busch Gardens.
Anywho, back to this outfit! I really like these two LLR pieces together because they are a “safe” attempt at pattern mixing, of which I am trying to do more! The subtle striped print on the top works so well with this skirt, and really makes the green on the print stand out a bit more.
For accessories, I stuck with gold, which I am really starting to like again (I used to only wear yellow gold in my teens and early 20’s, followed by the last 15-18 years of sticking with white gold and silver). I think the gold hoops and gold statement necklace from Francesca’s are a nice subtle touch. I didn’t want to detract from the boldness of these prints. And to finish things, I put on a black stretch belt from Francesca’s and charcoal open-toed pumps from BCBG.
And that’s all for this week. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
What the hell? It’s already August?! Where has the summer gone? Not that I am complaining. Fall will be here before you know it, and I’ll be dancing the happy dance! Fall has been my favorite season ever since I left home for college and was able to actually experience the seasons!!
For a cute business casual look this week, I opted the Loft Striped Ottoman Wrap Skirt (XXS) in Forever Navy, which I bought a few days ago. I love this skirt because it’s an interesting take on the pencil skirt in my wardrobe. I love the faux-wrap look in the front. And I really love navy with yellow, so I paired this skirt with a yellow blouse (size XS) from H&M and blue animal print Carlos Santana heels. And how can I forget about the necklace I am wearing, the Kate Spade New York Set in Stone Reversible Pendant Necklace (similar here).
I love it. I found it at Nordstrom Rack for only $15, so yeah, buying it was totally a no-brainer! It’s hard to find anything Kate Spade for this price, especially something so cute.
This outfit features another pair of buttery soft #LuLaRoe leggings. I bought these in a surprise bundle, so I wasn’t sure what I would get, and, let me tell you, I was in love with these right away. You guys know I love bold bright colors, and these fit that bill to a T.
On this day, I wanted to keep it fairly simple, since the leggings were the star of this show, so I put on a black tank top – I even let the bra straps show because they matched the leggings. That’s called coordination like a BOSS! To complete the look, I put on a pair of fuchsia thong sandals from H&M and gold accessories.
Another casual outfit this week featured one of my favorite summer tanks from H&M (size XS). I really love the pink, cream, and turquoise floral print on this tank, which I can wear around the house or even to the office with a pencil skirt. I paired this tank with a pair of beige shorts from Old Navy (size 0), and gold leather flip flops from Banana Republic. And yeah, because I love that Kate Spade necklace so much, I wore it again!
And, probably my favorite outfit this past week is this beauty right here. My hubs and I were able to squeeze in a long-overdue date night this week! YESSSS! It’s sometimes easy to forget how nice it is to enjoy a meal where I don’t feel the need to rush (or tell anyone to STHU)!
But, I have to say, I actually find it hardest to get dressed for a date night. Yeah, I have tons of clothes, but date nights always stress me out where getting dressed is concerned. I put on and took off at least 5 outfits before deciding on this one. I really hate that feeling of “I have nothing to wear,” especially when I know damn well that I have plenty to wear. But sometimes, as I stand in my closet and stare at all of my beautiful clothes, I simply don’t know where to start. Fortunately, this date night gave me a good excuse to put the Loft Striped Lace Riviera Short (size 00) in Light Tangerine into the immediate rotation. I bought them on a shopping trip with my daughter only a few days before.
Despite the fact that my husband’s first comment when he saw this was “eww you’re wearing Gators colors,” I really LOVE this outfit. First, in response to the hubs, the shorts aren’t orange they are tangerine, so no Gators colors in sight! This tangerine is definitely a new color for my wardrobe, which is exciting! Second, the shorts are just the right length for me – not too long and not too short. And the shorts pair really well with one of my fave Stitch Fix finds, the 19 Cooper Cathleen Split Neck Tulip Sleeve Blouse in Cobalt. I finished this outfit off with a gold belt from Target, the Bancroft Powell Leather Detail Bangle Set – Yellow from Stitch Fix #2, the Ali Chevron Stacked Pendant Necklace from Francesca’s that my 6 year old daughter picked out (she has great taste!), and tiger-print heels from Carlos Santana.
Happy Friday and have a great weekend, everyone!
I think this dress is from Eva Mendez’s collection at NY & Company. I’ve been hesitant to purchase much from them because their sizes have changed (although they claim they haven’t!).
- Pattern. The floral pattern is not too overbearing. The colors are perfect for spring and summer. I’m not a floral person, but I sure do love this pattern!
- Dress. The length of this dress looked great on the model online. When i received it, I wasn’t too sure how it was going to look on me. You know the petite lady that is NOT thin like a model!!
- Material. Let me say, this dress is very light weight which I love living in Florida. Just becareful because it may be so light, it has the potential of being see through. I’ll still wear it….just cover up (or under).
Thanks for reading and Happy Sunday!❤️
Another busy week in the books. I know I sound like a broken record on that front, but seriously, by Friday I really feel like I’ve been through it!!! But as crazy as this week was at work and at home, it was a great fashion week in my opinion because I discovered a new love – the Cassie style from LuLaRoe.
I couldn’t love this pencil skirt more! The pattern is just to die for – there are so many different colors I can rock with this skirt. And the fit is great – it’s stretchy, but not tight. And I can adjust the length depending on my mood or the look I am trying to achieve. On this day, I paired the Cassie with a red-orange blouse from J.Crew Factory, my favorite beige stretch belt from Banana Republic, and a pair of beige pumps. I was so happy with this skirt that I bought several more. I think I’m in love!
On this day, it was so hot and I really just wanted to keep it simple. This olive dress is from H&M. It has pockets, so you know I love it! I paired it with a gold toned statement necklace and a pair of snakeskin print sandals, also from H&M.
Yay. I was super excited this day to FINALLy put the Market & Spruce Kasey Knit Romper from Stitch Fix #7 into the rotation. I love this romper. It’s such a soft material and I was right in my initial review of this romper – it is super light and airy for the hot and muggy summer months. I paired this with a black stretch belt from Francescas (finally a new stretch belt in my wardrobe!) and a pair of gunmetal gladiator sandals from Via Spiga.
And this was another day of putting a new item into the rotation. I finally wore the Two by Vince Camuto Ikat Front Tee from Trunk #2, paired with a pair of stretch skinny jeans from J.Crew Factory. This was really a comfy outfit. Even though it was really warm, the sheer top was very cool! It’s a tad oversized, but it actually works as an off the shoulder look, which I love!
And that’s all for this week, ya’ll! I hope everyone has a great weekend. I’ll be up at Oh dark thirty for the kids’ final swim met of the summer season, so, as my mom would say, I need to sleep fast!
Today is a good day!! J came home from camp in Georgia last night/early this morning. We missed him and so glad for his safe return! I will say that I wasn’t so happy to see/smell the laundry that found its way home too! Imagine this…Georgia, wet, sweat and teenage BOY…in a bag…for 11 hours! OMG! What a wake up call this morning when I walked through the garage on the way out this morning! 😝 #imUP
Let’s see what I have today…
- The pattern. Again, out of the box on this one. It’s so girlie and made me feel all pretty…so NOT me! 😂
- The style. I seem to do well with A line style dresses/skirts. And they really like the petite frame.
- The color. You can’t tell by the picture, but it’s navy blue and white. I love this combo, but I would have preferred some tropical colors for this dress. But notice… I apparently didn’t dislike it THAT much that I put it back on the rack!!!😂
I’m going to start a section called “What they WANTED/What they GOT”. People know I like to buy stuff on sale! I don’t like paying full price for clothes although I do. I like the thrill of getting as steal on clothes…I mean…who doesn’t,right??
For this dress…what they WANTED was something like $60 or so, what they GOT was $15! See??? Fun, right???
Today I decided to break in a new Lularoe dress. If you’ve been reading, you probably remember that Lularoe is the new clothing obsession for me! Ladies, meet….
…..Julia!!! Isn’t she cute???
I chose to wear her a little differently because I don’t have the right shoes for her…
See!!?!? I belted the dress and pulled it over to make it look like a separate top and skirt versus a full dress. I accented with my Chucks because they go with everything and can go everywhere! The kimono cover was a last minute decision because I was really a little uncomfortable .
- Versatility. This dress can be worn a few ways, as above (with or without a belt) or like this….
- Fabric. This company has the most giving fabrics. This is a form fitting dress but it doesn’t feel like I’m a stuffed sausage!!
- Pattern. I really love the colors in this dress! I don’t usually do florals but it has enough that doesn’t make me feel like a doily.
- I have a gut! Well…it ain’t the dress’ fault!! This was really out of my zone in terms of fit. I’m not quite sure I would wear it without a kimono or a sweater tied around my waist. I’m not body confident enough to go without an accessory.
What do you think??
Happy Sunday and thanks for reading!❤️
Happy Friday, everyone. Another week has flown by. This week has been so hot, with even more sweltering temperatures (100+) on the horizon over the weekend. Sometimes I feel like I still live in Arizona – but at least in Arizona, AKA “it’s the dry heat,” I could keep my hair from the frizz, even when it was 115. Here in the DMV, not so much, as you can see in all of my summertime posts thus far! Frizz City, sweetheart!! Anywho, I digress. Here’s a few outfits I put together this week:
As I am sure I have already mentioned, my oldest 2 kids are on our country club’s summer swim team, which means early a.m. swim meets on Saturdays through the end of July. And it is really unbearably hot by around 10:00 a.m. on those days, so for last week’s swim meet, I picked out a fun, yet cool outfit to wear. I dug out a pink skirt from Old Navy that I have never worn, and paired it with a grey and pink tank, also from Old Navy. And to set it off, I wore the grey and bronze necklace from H&M that I’ve worn a bunch of times in the last few weeks and a pair of gold leather flip flops from Banana Republic. Perhaps that was a little much for a swim meet, but who cares?
One of my favorite outfits this week was the Ruffle Drawstring Romper from Loft that my sister over at Miles, Moms, and Mishaps bought for me. She also has one, too, which you can see here! I love the neon coral hue on this romper, and really, this is just a cute, fun romper than I can dress up or down depending on my mood. On this day, I put on a gold skinny belt (I tied the drawstring that’s on the romper around the belt since I couldn’t hide it) and a pair of sandals from Target. This was a perfect outfit for shopping!
This outfit here was a bit risky for me, in that I wore a pair of super short shorts.Way shorter than I normally feel comfortable wearing. But I bought these floral print Joie shorts from Nordstrom Rack 2 or so years ago and have never worn them, so I wanted to give them a try.
Since the shorts are so short, I needed to wear a less “scandalous” top, so I picked out a navy blue 3/4 length shirt from Old Navy. And wore the pair of sandals from Target again.
My 6 year old daughter took this picture of my outfit. Thus, the grainy, fuzzy, crooked image. Oh well. The hubs and I decided to take the kids for some tapas at one of my favorite tapas restaurants in the DC area – La Tasca. It was sooo good. I love that my kids eat anything and everything. Although their sophisticated palates can get expensive. Pardon the #humblebrag! LOL.
Anyway, I am wearing a wine-colored shift dress from Banana Republic. I have always loved this dress, mostly because it has pockets. Can’t go wrong with a dress that has pockets in my opinion. I paired the dress with a pair of chrome gladiator sandals because I wanted to be comfy if I had to chase one of my kids. With those crazies, you really have to be ready for all contingencies. And I am wearing silver jewelry to complete the look.
This last outfit is what I am wearing right now – it’s super comfy and casual, which is perfect for a sweltering day working from home! The cream tank top is from Old Navy, as is the olive green and cream striped skirt. And I am wearing a pair of copper wedge sandals to finish the look.
And that is all for this Friday’s edition of Petite Fashion Friday! I hope everyone enjoys their day and has a fabulous weekend!
Happy Sunday!! Busy day today, with basketball and packing J for camp…again! This is the first non basketball camp this summer. And truth be told…last one for the summer! School starts August 10th!!! Where has the summer gone???
Last week, I shared some Lularoe outfits. Let me say, I’d love to share some more!!
- The pattern. I tell you, the best thing about finding this company (outside of the comfort of the clothes) are the patterns! I have really been able to step…no…JUMP out of the box that I am in! You know…black, white, grey and all in between! Now I am forced to see other colors!! 😂
- Pockets. If you’ve been reading you know a few things-stripes, polka dots, and POCKETS! This girl has pockets!!! #nuffsaid
- Size. I suggest, as well as my consultant (you like that…MY consultant!!) to try on the dress/skirts you like because the fabric/patten may or may not be stretchy. This dress needed to be in XS because of the material and it was perfect!! I love everything about this dress! The petite girl look great in this A line cut! Go get one!!!
- One. I only own one! But won’t be that way for long!! 😂
Searching for something else online, I came across a lovely dress that was my favorite combo…cute and cheap!
- The color. It’s like a teal, which I like! I don’t own anything in this color.
- The pockets. That’s all.
- The cap sleeves. This look honestly make you look like you have the FLOTUS’ athletic arms! YES! I’ve always been a fan of cap sleeves and they are a great complement to the petite gals frame.
- One. More colors PLEASE!!!
I tell ya….for the first time in a long time, I am truly loving my clothes! I’ve always liked my clothes, but I am really feeling what I’m selecting lately. Probably because I’m actually in some color!!! 😂. And 44 has me understanding what works for my petite body (and gut!) and what doesn’t! The rule I continually live by, including picking my clothes:
Just because you CAN, doesn’t mean you SHOULD!!
Thanks for reading and Happy Sunday!❤️
