Sunday Share with my Sister

Sunday….why do you show up so fast??? ‘Twas a busy weekend!! Little man (aka Aidan) had basketball and all the running around necessary to go to Hubs Christmas party.

First…basketball !This is week #2 of the Upward season. This year…he is a King (like the Sacremento Kings).  He had a great game…puts some points on the board and played some DE-fense!!! We are so proud of him! He loves this sport just as much as Julian!

What did I wear, you ask?  Thanks for asking…..Lindsay kimono (LuLaroe)// “Go Jesus, It’s Your Birthday”! Tee (Prep Obsessed)//Red Leggings (LuLaroe)//White Slip on Chuck Taylors (Zappos)//Pearl necklace (Loft)

I can’t say enough about this outfit. Everything about it I LOVE– from the buttery soft leggings to the statement shirt to the kimono.

The Lindsay is my newest LuLaroe purchase/obsession.  It’s thin enough to not be hot on warm days but thick enough to be warm on cool days. Want a better pic??See???? Isn’t she precious?

“Wife.Mom.BOSS” shirt ({a}Haley Boutique)//Black leggings (LuLaroe)

If you’ve been reading, then you KNOW our resident Petite Gal is my/ our LuLaroe GirlBOSS! (FB: LuLaroe ~ Monica Vignier)

After basketball and errands, it was time to get ready for Hubs company Christmas party. Truth be told, I look forward to this every year because outside of this….I don’t really have an occasion to dress up! #newdress

Lace Capped dress -Vintage Champagne (J.Crew Factory)//Fioni Jubilee Platform Pump (Payless)//Gold Statement necklace (Charming Charlie)

Close up??

I can’t say enough about this dress!! I will say that I can add this dress to my “What they WANTED…What they GOT..” segment that I want to continue to build. Here’s the story- I ordered this online in petite in my size. Well…I went on a limb because I was in love when I saw it online. When I received it in the mail…I tried it on…..BOOB SMOOSHER!   Do you see it??? I was bummed!!! Here I found the perfect dress and it fit every where but the upper part! (Damn broad back!! Damn you swimming and CrossFit for contributing!). I was able to exchange the dress at my local store, which I didn’t know we had, and get the regular size. Yes petite ladies….I went NON PETITE because it didn’t fit correctly. 😱. Any way, What they WANTED for the dress (originally online) was $108….What they GOT (online) was $54.  But wait…there’s more! Upon my exchange, the price went down more, so What they WANTED was $108…What they GOT was $43! SCORE!
I was pretty pleased with my outfit selections this Sunday! That’s a first….

Until next week, my gals! Happy Sunday and thanks for reading! ❤️

Petite Fashion Friday (July 15)

Hi everyone!  This week has really flown by.  I am still not able to understand how the summer (at least for the kiddos) is almost half over).  School will be back in session before I know it.  But, in a way, that’s a good thing, because this summer has been particularly busy.  And extremely hot.  Yesterday it was like 98 degrees.  I felt so bad for my kids, who were suffering through soccer practice in that hot muggy heat, whilst I enjoyed the A/C in my car.  #badmom

Enough of my whining though.  This week I want to share a few work outfits and a few play outfits.  Please excuse my “summer hair,” AKA my “I am not going to even bother flat ironing until September hair!

Office Attire:

I am really loving this outfit for a “casual summer” office look – it really looks and feels sooo summery.  The skirt (size 0P) is from Loft, maybe 2-3 years ago.  I picked it out today because I wanted to do something a little different than my normal pencil skirt uniform.  Yeah, the skirt is a tad roomy, but with the white blouse (size XXSP), also from Loft, tucked in, everything fits very nicely. To complete the look, I wore a pair of wine-colored heels from BCBG and a grey and bronze necklace from H&M that I absolutely adore!

img_2217I also really love this outfit i wore to the office.  Yes, it is a navy blue pencil skirt (Loft, size 0P) paired with a sleeveless blouse (Halogen, size XSP, from Trunk #2 Part 2), but since it is casual summer for the office until September, I went a little crazy with my shoes to make this work “uniform” a bit more interesting.  The belt is a gold sparkly belt that I bought from Target 4 or 5 years ago, and the blur and white plaid shoes are from Nordstrom Rack.

Casual Attire:

On this day, I wore #LuLaRoe #Leggings right into the rotation. These are OS (one size), which, while comfy, are a tad big for this petite gal.  It may be TMI, but they are a tad roomy in the crotch area, and I had to pull them up way above my waist (that the bump to the right of this picture pulled the leggings up to). So, I will probably stick to the tween size for leggings.  The fit much better.

But, fit aside, you can’t really beat this print, blue and yellow, with a few red accents as well (which, sadly, are mostly on the back of these leggings).  And to bring out the red (and to really get into color wheel dressing), I wore a red tank top from Old Navy and gold leather flip flops from Banana Republic.  This really was a great outfit to wear on a day when I had to take my kids to morning swim practice, camps, and then soccer practice in the afternoon.

And here is another outfit feature something from #LuLaRoe!  This is the #ClassicTee (size XXS).  I love these tees because they are comfy and soooo soft. And yes, they are a oversized, but there are so many fun ways to tie these tees.  This classic tee was a must-buy because of my favorite colors – maize and blue – GO MICHIGAN!)!  i PAIRED THIS TEE WITH A PAIR OF J.Crew Factory skinny jeans, beige thong sandals from Nine West, and a bauble necklace in yellow, teal, and purple from Charming Charlie.  This was the perfect outfit for a day outside with the kids.

And that is it for this week!  I hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend!!

Sunday Share with my Sister

This is a special Sunday morning because we celebrate all of you Moms!

I hope this day brings you rest and relaxation and ALL the appreciation you deserve!

Hubs and I were out of town a few weeks ago and we went to dinner with some friends.  I decided this little piece might be nice…

Floral Shift dress (Charming Charlie)//Necklace (Ross)//Nude Sandals (Nine West)

Pssst…by the way…this ISN’T me!!😉
My likes:

  • This color is phenomenal!
  • The pattern is cute
  • And…it’s comfortable!!

My dislikes:

  • It may be a little shorter than I am used to, but I survived.
  • It is a little thin..*old lady alert*…wear a slip!

I ordered the dress online and I am very happy with the purchase. I’m usually hesitant about buying dresses online because the models are all tall and slim.  I’m not sure what it will look like on petite me.  I have to say shift dresses seem to do well for the (young) petite gal. Invest in one/some if you haven’t already!!!

Happy Sunday and Happy Mother’s Day from this Mom

Julian (in the red) and Aidan (in the gray) with me and Hubs.

Thanks for reading!❤️

Sunday Share with My Sister

May 1st?!?!? Really?? How did the time fly?  My son Julian will finish 8th grade on T-minus 25 days…which mean High School is around the corner! Wha????? (in my best Li’l Wayne voice from the Samsung Galaxy commercials 😂).
April brought some hot a** weather here in Florida.  This may not sound so surprising but it’s APRIL for heaven’s sake! We don’t get this hot until late July/early August.  Why do you need to know this?  Because not only do the “blah days” call for dresses but so does “hot a** Florida weather“!

Monday called for….

Navy blue and white polka dot dress (Charming Charlie)// Tassel necklace (Charmin Charlie) // Teal ballet flats (Payless)
Tassel necklace (Charming Charlie)

My likes:

  • This dress is behind comfortable!
  • The length is PERFECT!
  • And…the necklace! I can’t get enough of this tassel necklace. I can’t wait to find something else to wear with it!!

My dislikes:

  • Be aware that wearing this dress, you may need a slip…or whatever your generation calls it. (I just really showed all of my soon to be 44 years telling you to use a slip!)
  • I managed to pick another dress with that “I can’t hide the baby fat” waistline.  But it’s shrinking because  I’m working that!!😉

Tuesday brought…
Dress (LOFT)// Black Sweater (H&M)// Black ballet flats (Payless)

Without with sweater…

A little Tuesday flex for ya…!
My likes:

  • STRIPES!!! Y’all know I’m a sucker for stripes!!
  • The chambray color with the white! ❤️
  • The A line cut of the dress actually works for me (and my gut!)
  • It’s a perfect fabric for the Summer! It’s not heavy and not see through, either!

My dislikes:

  • Nothing! I ❤️ the dress

This lovely price got me to “Hump Day”..

Shift polka dot dress (Charming Charlie)// Teal ballet flats (Payless)

My likes:

  • Ok, I feel the same about polka dots as I feel about stripes. ❤️
  • I love the length of the dress.

My dislikes:

  • The sleeves. I feel like this dress calls for different sleeves.  They don’t make me sick enough to to NOT wear the dress, but it looks like it should have a different sleeve.

What’s in store for Thursday??

Lou & Grey dress (LOFT)// Teal ballet flats (Payless)

My likes:

  • The little keyhole pattern on the dress. You probably can’t see it well in the picture.
  • It feels like I have a big ol’ Tshirt on, it’s so comfy!
  • One of my staple colors- GREY!

My dislikes:

  • If I pulled the drawstring a little tighter, the length would have changed from “cute” to “oh no, that old lady is NOT wearing that shirt dress!“.

There you have it! Almost a weeks worth of dresses that this petite girl wears.  I hope I own enough to get me through the summer!

SN: I do, in fact, own more than just 2 pairs of ballet flats!😂. I am usually featuring an outfit that I am wearing to work (where I usually look my best) and being on my feet all day…used to involve heels, but now is flats, all day, baby! Maybe I should do a Payless commercial about their flats….. #imreadyformyCLOSEUP

Happy Sunday and thanks for reading!❤️

Sundays with my Sister

Here we are…another week has gone by! I’m not sure how exciting the outfits are this week for you…but I like them. Posting here makes me realize that my wardrobe is fairly boring and consists of the same time items just in different colors. For example, last week for church..

Floral Kimono (Charming Charlie;similar)//Calvin Klein white tank (Costco)// Boyfriend jeans (Loft)// Ballet Flats (Payless)

It looks fairly standard and pretty much what you’ve come to know and love from my posts.

To work this week, I opted for another similar look

Nautical scarf (Charming Charlie)//Relaxed V neck Tee (Old Navy)//Pixie Chinos – Navy (Old Navy)//Glitter flats (Sam & Libby)

I wore my jean jacket that morning

…but I felt it made me appear bulky, so I didn’t wear it.

So you see, I’m pretty boring with my clothes but I know what works for me.  I guess that’s the whole point, right? I’m hoping that I’ll catch a cute skirt/dress/shorts/ANYTHING ELSE to show you guys! I really don’t want you to fall asleep reading my posts! 😂

Thanks for reading! ❤️

PS…sorry Mom! I didn’t include my face. I’m working on that….!

Operation Clean Out My Closet (Day 27)

I’m a little slow posting today, but in my defense my hubby too me out to lunch for an early birthday celebration before the kids got home from school, and Mexican mojitos were involved.

So yeah, I am a little behind.  And didn’t even bother taking any pics until after a few mojitos and very late in the afternoon, so I’m looking pretty crazy right now. But here’s what I wore today.

I picked out a bright yellow striped tank from Loft, which I think I bought in 2013. I haven’t worn this since last spring, so I figured it it sorta counted for the challenge.  And I paired the tank with a cardigan, also from Loft around the same time.  I haven’t worn this cardigan in a few years, so this definitely counts toward the challenge. I love these bright yellows, they’re just so cute for Spring and make me happy.

I’m wearing J.Crew stretch skinny jeans, a pair of floral Mossimo ballet flats from Target, and a multi-colored beaded necklace from Charming Charlie.

BUT WILL SHE KEEP IT? Absolutely. These are great colors

And now, I am off to do some more celebrating.

Operation Clean Out My Closet (Day 26)

Happy St. Patrick’s Day ♣!

So, getting dressed today was somewhat easy because I knew I wanted to wear green, and I only have a few green pieces in my work wardrobe. Which is so weird because green is my second favorite color next to blue. But for some reason, I simply don’t buy a lot of green for any occasion much less going into the office.  I basically had to choose between two green dresses, one of which I really like but it’s a wrap dress. I used to seriously love wrap dresses and before I birthed 4 kids and had something in the chesticle region, wrap dresses looked really good on me. They were super flattering and I bought them often. But fast forward to the current body situation and wrap dresses are not so flattering. I just wasn’t ready to deal with trying on s wrap dress this morning, so I settled on this jade green (I think that’s what it’s called) sheath dress.

This is a Mossimo sheath dress (size 2) from Target. I’m going to guess I bought this dress in 2010, but I honestly don’t know when I bought it. I wore this dress to my oldest’s pre-K “graduation” so I know I had this dress in 2012.

I even have a picture from this day to prove it! That’s my mom on the left! Isn’t she cute?

What I am sure about, however, is that I last wore this dress in 2013 because the dry cleaner’s tag is still stapled to the tag and it’s still hanging on the wire hanger from the dry cleaners. That seems to be a common theme over the last 3 weeks!

So, the dress fits okay. It’s a little big, but most things are on me. It has pockets, though, and dresses that have pockets are generally A-OK in my book. I threw on my beige wide belt from Banana Republic to give my waist little definition. I decided to wear a brown leopard print cardigan that I bought from Old Navy maybe in 2010. I really don’t know when I bought this either but I haven’t worn it in 2 years.

The brown polka dot pumps with teal faux leather trim are Steven Madden. And to finish off the outfit, I put on a brown and green bauble necklace that I found in my nightstand drawer last night. I think this is from Charming Charlie, but I’m. It 100% sure, but I don’t think I’ve worn it before. I didn’t even know I had it!  And I’m wearing multicolored bracelet from Cameroon.

BUT WILL SHE KEEP IT?  Yes.  I may just want to see if I can have it taken in a tad.  But a little room in clothes isn’t a bad thing.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy St. Paddy’s!

Sundays with my Sister

Hey ladies!  You all know that my sister has been on point with Operation “look what I found that I forgot I had!!“.  I don’t have this problem because unlike my sis, I have been up and down sizes my entire 20s and 30s (Minus pregnancy! Ugh…).  It wasn’t until late 30s and into my 40s, that I am finally at a stable size.  I still have some spots or areas that are “under construction” but I’m working on it.

This week, I looked at some of the clothes I wore to work.  Unlike Mo, I heart pants! Don’t get me wrong, I wear skirts and dresses (and I have some I’ll share with you), but pants are my jam! It’s probably a “I don’t really like showing my legs” thing. #underconstruction

At work, I used to wear a white coat, so I didn’t really do much or pay attention to styling myself.    I don’t wear scrubs because I’m in an outpatient office (Family Practice) and I don’t go to the hospital.  I stopped wearing a coat about 5 months ago when I started having to carry a laptop into the rooms with me 😝. Who wants to hold a stethoscope, Rx pad, phone AND laptop???  Bye bye jacket…hello to  jazzing up the old wardrobe.

Pintuck-Bib top (Old Navy)// Black Ankle pants (Ross; similar)// Teal flats (Payless; similar //Charming Charlie necklace

The weather was a little fickle in The Sunshine State, so I opted to go with a light trench with my outfit…

Teal Trench coat (Forever 21; similar)

This was one of my finds about 7 years ago at Forever 21. I’m kinda too old to shop there (then and now), but it’s a store that you can always find something cute (and CHEAP) to wear.  Plus…if you want to try something trendy but don’t want to break the bank, it’s your store!

I have always loved trench coats and peacoats.  They are classic and never go out of style.  I think my love came from my fashion girl crush Audrey Hepburn.   I think the petite body is perfect for these kinds of coats.  Do yourself a favor…add one to your closet if you don’t have one. I’m currently courting this to add to my closet…
Double Breasted Trench (Charming Charlie). I’m not a pink girl but I do love this coat. We shall see..

For this Sunday’s outfit..

My likes: I’m a sucker for ankle pants! I have too many to count (and looking to add more). Petite gals rock in these types of pants.  I hope I don’t bore you with my pants!

My dislikes
: honestly, nothing! I love this outfit just the way it is!! Wouldn’t change anything. That’s a first for me!

Thanks for reading. See you next Sunday!❤️
